In an attempt to make a viral video, Monalisa Perez, 19, shot her boyfriend Pedro Ruiz III, 22. According to Norman County Sheriff’s Department arrest report she shot at a book Pedro was holding against his chest. Pedro Ruiz III, an old railroad worker, wanted to film Monalisa shooting at a book held against his chest which was supposed to stop the bullet.

Mr Ruiz, had previously experimented with a book, in preparation for this very stunt. The bullet had not gone through the book. This had convinced Monalisa that the stunt was a safe one. He set two cameras to film the stunt hoping to create a viral video.

On Monday, a seven month pregnant Perez, shot at Pedro from a foot away using a .50-caliber Desert Eagle handgun, while he was holding the book to his chest.

The bullet was not stopped by the book. Perez called 911 at 6:30 PM stating that she had accidentally shot her boyfriend.

The Paramedics on the scene said Ruiz died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Riuz’s aunt Claudia told the media that the couple were in love and accident was just a prank gone wrong.

Perez had previously tweeted about their stunt. She said, “Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever. HIS idea not MINE.

Their YouTube channel is described as, “Our Blogs will show you the real life of a young couple who happen to be teen parents.” Their videos show the couple going to supermarket or pulling pranks on each other.

The couple’s three year old along with thirty onlookers were present at the site when Perez fatally shot her boyfriend.

Ms Perez has been booked in the county jail. She was granted a public defense lawyer and released on $7,000 (£5,400) bail. She if convicted of manslaughter will face 10 years in jail, along with a fine of up to $20,000.
